Our client is currently seeking a Specialist Project Accountant for a major Mine Site in the Blackwater Region to report through to the Project Manager and to run the commercial aspects of this significant operation.

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing effective management accounting and commercial advice to the Project Manager you will be regarded as a business partner who is capable of influencing decision making on the project.

You will have a strong work ethic and the ability to take on a variety of complex tasks simultaneously as well as effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively and professionally under pressure and within a busy work environment.

Reporting to the Project Manager, your duties will include:

Provide financial and commercial advice to the Project Manager

Implement and maintain a forecasting model

Provide the Project Manager with meaningful monthly reporting and variance analysis

Support the Project Manager and Mining Engineers to compile and submit variations and claims in a timely manner

Support the Project Manager in the evaluation of capital and operating cost justifications

Provide timely insight and information to the CFO

The successful candidate will have three or more years experience in an Accounting role within Heavy Industry and it is likely you will have had some Site exposure or experience working on a major project. You will also need to possess Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and experience with costing systems and a large ERP package similar to SAP.
